8 – 11 June (Monday to Thursday) Self-Love(d): learning to love God, neighbour AND self, through the insights of mindfulness
We live in a world seemingly obsessed with ‘me time’ and ‘self-love’. Yet, despite that, self-esteem for many is cripplingly low.
Jesus said the two greatest commandments are to ‘love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength; and to love your neighbour AS yourself’. This week, we are inviting you to explore the extravagant love God has for us; and how the knowledge of being unconditionally loved in this way can be the lens through which we can begin to express greater love for God, others and ourselves.
In Christian circles and church life, the emphasis can, all too often, be on ‘doing’ for others rather than ‘being’ in God. This can lead to physical, mental, emotional and spiritual burnout. Come and join us to discover a healthier rhythm of ‘being’, ‘doing’ and ‘loving’.
Led by Karen Openshaw and Bishop Chris Edmondson. Together they’ve written ‘Self-Love(d) : Mindful Journeys of Learning to Love God, Neighbour AND self’ which the retreat is based on.
